ChubbyBrain is an information & data services company organizing information about high growth private companies and those that back them.
"So you guys are trying to build Bloomberg for private companies."
That's the best description of us we've heard so far. It summarizes our mission and also the fact that we have just started this mission. Our goal is to aggregate information about high growth private companies and build a new type of data & information services company - one that is transparent and accessible to all those who can use this information - entrepreneurs, investors, corporations, etc. There is no reason this information should not be held behind overpriced, opaque, incomplete and poorly designed subscription services.
Our data is syndicated by leading media sources covering the innovation economy including ReadWriteWeb, Xconomy and the NY Enterprise Report to name a few.

At present, we strictly track information on private companies backed by venture capital and private equity firms, angel investors, incubators and/or university entrepreneurship/technology transfer groups. If you wish to add a private company to our database, we require proof that it has been backed by one of these groups. In some cases, we add high growth private companies which we identify via our team's own proprietary research and sources.
How do you collect this information?
- With your help via mass collaboration - people just like you email us or contribute company information directly on CB.
- Our own proprietary technology and processes which aggregates this information
We launched our public beta in February 2009 with 12k company profiles and 800 investor profiles. In 6 short months, with your help, we crossed 27k company and 3600 investor profiles. We are already the largest startup and investor database on the web. And this is just the beginning.
