Angel Investment Exit Statistics

In 2009, the Angel Capital Association reported that angel investors saw exits in their investments came via:

  • 54% – mergers & acquisitions
  • 40% – bankruptcies

The anemic public markets in 2009 obviously impacted the chances for angel investors to exit via initial public offerings (IPOs).

The Angel Capital Association reports that annual returns for angel’s exits (mergers and acquisitions and IPOs) were between 23 percent and 38 percent, however, these returns were quite variable.
