Companies that can turn your Home into an intelligent more efficient user of energy are getting a lot of attention these days.  It was announced today that EnergyHub (www.energyhub.net) received its first round of funding for their high tech home energy management dashboard system.  The market for such products is considered to be very substantial.  However, the question remains will companies like EnergyHub, have to wait for the local utilities to pay for these systems (over $100 per starter unit) or will consumers become proactive and purchase them on their own.  The latter scenario is what EnergyHub and its investors are counting on.

EnergyHub is not alone in this effort to make homes more efficient by transferring energy usage information to local utilities.  There are a few other startups namely, Tendril Networks (www.tendrilinc.com) and Energate (www.energateinc.com) that are making similar types of energy monitoring devices.

What are your thoughts on Smart Home technologies and the viability of this business?  Are these products ready for the general public?  Who do you think has the best offering EnergyHub, Tendril or Energate?

We want to hear your opinion.  Click on the company widgets below to check out their profiles and share your view point by writing a review of the company you like or don’t like.
