Digg made some waves in recent weeks with the release of their controversial, yet ultra-effective DiggBar - a toolbar that resides at the top of web pages that allows people to digg a story without having to actually visit Digg. According to that same VentureBeat link, the company claims that it has experienced a 20 percent boost in unique visitors since the DiggBar’s launch.
So why the controversy?
The Digg bar acts as a URL shortener where these new URLs reside on the digg.com domain, allegedly lessening the SEO benefits realized by the site being dugg.
It this concern true or overblown? Either way, is the DiggBar a good move for Digg? We’ll let you be the judge. Currently Digg has a 3.5 star rating on ChubbyBrain. Go ahead!
