If you hadn’t heard, NYC has been undergoing a bit of a startup boom as of late.  And with the boom have come myriad opportunities for NYC startup entrepreneurs or those willing to relocate to get expertise, wisdom, capital, and connections from a burgeoning group of startup accelerator programs.  Yes we know many folks call them incubators or seed funds, but you know what we’re talking about.

So as a helpful guide to startup entrepreneurs, below are NYC Startup Accelerator programs with some relevant details about them including whose involved, what you get, how much equity they take, etc.  If we’ve missed any, please leave them in the comments, and we’ll add them.  We’ve not included descriptions as “on paper”, they’re often similar.  That means 10-12 week programs that offer real estate, mentors, free advisory (legal often), some amount of financing, networking events and usually end in an investor pitch day.  Of course, this doesn’t mean they’re all the same in reality, but that decision is yours to make after doing your own reverse due diligence.  Our goal is simply to arm you with the information to get you started.

DreamIt NYC

Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator

FinTech Innovation Lab

NYC SeedStart

TechStars

Founders Labs

If there are other NYC accelerators we’ve missed, edits or other inputs, leave them in the comments. For startups applying to one (or several) of these accelerator programs, best of luck.

The Founder Institute http://www.founderinstitute.com/ should be included in this list.

The Founder Institute is a global network of startups and mentors that helps entrepreneurs launch meaningful and enduring technology companies.

I have been involved with a number of start up programs. I can honestly say that the Founder Institute is the best!

I entered the program with an idea and with the feedback from the incredible mentors like Jeff Stewart, Jason Calacanis, Aaron Patzer and many more, I left with a more solid idea, a business plan, wireframes… I got to pitch some of NYC’s top VC’s and some of them asked to be beta testers.

My startup Moozly – is about to launch into beta, with a huge running start thanks to Adeo Ressi and the Founder Institute.

The FinTech info. is a little off.

    - Its $25K total, you don’t get any more or less for extra founders.
    - They don’t take 6% equity. The $25K converts into the next round (without any discount) and they get a small piece of the next round of funding.
    - The program is for companies with at least an alpha – since its hard to work with banks if you just have a loose idea.
