Submit Your Startup – 32 Free Web Directories that Can Help Your Startup Get Users, Publicity and SEO Juice

Your startup website / web application is ready to be used by the world.  So while your friends and family use it and hopefully tell everyone they know about it and while you wait to hear back from bloggers/journalists who you hope will write about it and catapult you to “cewebrity” status, there are a ton of places you can go to submit your startup for free today.  And so you don’t have to go trekking around the web to find them, we’ve included details on all of them below to make your life just a bit easier.
Before we get to the mega-list, why should you submit to one of these web directories?   Besides the obvious, why not, there are four main reasons:
  • They’re Free – None of these cost any money.  They’re free and that price works in all startup budgets.
  • Acquire Users – Some of these sites have active communities of people interested in new technologies, web applications so if getting in front of that audience would be beneficial for you, you have users to gain.
  • Generate Publicity – Several are tied to popular or semi-popular blogs so there is a chance you could get picked up and get exposure on those blogs.
  • Enhance SEO – Many of these sites are high pagerank sites so by getting a link on these sites, they’re indirectly sharing their “Google juice” with you making your site more credible and improving your standing with search engines and assisting you on the often important and elusive Search Engine Optimization front.

So now that you’re convinced, here is the entire list of web directories, databases and blogs you should submit your startup to.  Of course, if there are others you’d recommend, add them in the comments and we’ll update this post over time.
