Customers pay about $150 for a Presto printer that converts their e-mails to printed e-letters. The printer can be set to print anywhere from five times a day to once every week, and e-mails sent to a Presto-provided e-mail address are converted to a colorful and easy-to-read format. This product and service is an excellent solution for families who live far away from parents/grandparents and want to send them letters and pictures over the web.
I think Presto's service is a good idea that has been well executed, but a few problems do stand out to me. First, customers are required to pay $12.50 a month to use this service, a price which might be a little hefty if customers are only planning to use it every few weeks. I can also see families, in light of the ease of using this product, feeling pressured to send content often to retired parents/grandparents with fewer time commitments, a thought which might turn some potential customers away.

Finally, a product like this exists only because of the period of technological transition that society finds itself in. Presto, as it currently exists, will be irrelevant in, say, 15 years when the elderly will probably be requesting wireless in their nursing homes. Granted, 15 years is a good run. All I'm saying is Presto can't last forever.

Overall, I think Presto is a useful, innovative idea with good, semi-short-term growth potential. Though Presto is no sure thing as the next generation phases into retirement years, for now it's almost a sure thing.
