The Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship is an initiative by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad. It was setup in 2001 with the support of the Government of Gujarat and the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Since its inception, a host of organizations, professionals, academicians and networking partners within India and across the globe have been closely associated with the initiatives of CIIE. Some of the ongoing projects are also being backed by Wadhwani Foundation (set up by IT entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, USA), Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (GoI), Piramal Foundation and Microsoft.
The organization runs numerous programs including:
(1) iAcclerator to seed technology entrepreneurs in India
(2) Renewable Energy Search to identify, encourage and incubate entrepreneurial ideas aimed at solving the energy crisis through use of existing clean energy related research
(3) Anveshan a unique nationwide proactive search by CIIE at IIMA for hi-tech and high impact innovators in public, private and informal sectors so as to transform their innovative products and technologies into viable enterprises. Selected innovators and their technologies receive incubation support in the form of infrastructure, networks and IIMA intellectual expertise.
(4) Piramal Prize - The Piramal Prize was established by the Ajay G. Piramal Foundation in 2007 to encourage and support bold entrepreneurial ideas which have a profound impact on access to higher standards of health for India's rural and marginalized urban communities.
