KENNETH LERER BACKGROUND / BIOGRAPHY

    • Kenneth (Ken) Lerer is an angel investor and one of co-founders and Managing Partners of Lerer Media Ventures along with his son Ben.

      Ken Lerer was Bob Pittman's former right hand at AOL, and more recently was the co-founder of the Huffington Post with Arianna Huffington.

      The Huffington Post launched in the spring of 2005. Founded as a liberal alternative to the Drudge Report, the site has always been closely associated with Huffington, although Lerer managed the business in its early days and helped arrange several runds of financing for the company.

      In 2007, Lerer transitioned the CEO job to Betsy Morgan, the former general manager of CBS.com who was subeqently replaced by Eric Hippeau.

      Lerer remains the company's chairman.

      Lerer is chairman emeritus of the New York Public Theater. Lerer is married to Katherine Sailer, with whom he has a daughter named Isabel and aforementioned son, Ben.

      Given his political roots with the Huffington Post, Ken Lerer remains active in politics and hosted hosted one of the city's first big fundraisers for Barack Obama during his presidential run.
