The Elevator Pitch “Template”

When you meet an investor (especially impromptu), you’ll want to have a quick overview of your product, service or idea ready that can generate interest. Elevator pitches should ideally be well rehearsed and tailored to your audience.

It is intended to capture the attention of a venture capitalist and make them want to engage with you further.

Things your elevator pitch should answer include:

  • What is your product or service?
  • Who is your market and how big is it?
  • How do you think you will make money?
  • Who is the management (and why are they credible)?
  • Why is your business advantaged over others?

Some people also advocate detailing competitors as that validates the market you are in.
